About
Berkshire Overview

Berkshire Asset Management was founded in 1986 and has since grown to over $630 million in assets under management (12/31/07) for approximately 180 relationships. The majority of our clients' portfolios are high net worth individuals, foundations, charitable organizations, and ERISA portfolios. We have grown by providing an exceptional level of client service and delivering attractive investment results. We are confident this disciplined approach to expansion is a logical and rewarding way to conduct our business.

In 1999, we were acquired by Legg Mason, Inc. and now operate as a wholly owned, independent subsidiary. In 2007, the company was acquired by its current management from Legg Mason. Once again it is now independently owned and operated. Located in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, we employ five professionals and two administrative assistants. All research and portfolio management decisions are made proprietary.

Berkshire distinguishes itself from the competition through our exacting investment philosophy and process. Unlike some other firms, we are able to maintain a low manager-to-client ratio and cater to the individual needs of our investors.
